Wall Paint Decision Checklist
- Identify your room needs: washability, moisture, child-friendliness.
- Pick a paint type: Plastic emulsion for walls, satin enamel for doors/kitchen.
- Choose a sheen: Matte for low-traffic ceilings and bedrooms; eggshell/satin for living, kids, and passages.
- Select colours using the 60-30-10 rule; test with a 2×2 ft sample before buying full cans.
- Check the wall for dampness — use Damp Proof if any.
- Follow the sequence: Damp-proof → Putty (2 coats, sand) → Primer (1 coat) → Paint (2–3 coats).
- Stick to one brand for shade consistency; use their colour match machines.
- Budget using the room-wise coverage table; factor labour separately.
- Maintain: Wipe with a soft damp cloth (never abrasive scrubbers on matte). Touch-up leftover paint stored in an airtight container.
